Figures in the light (1980-1985)

These are the works exhibited in 1984 under this title at Fernando Vijande´s Gallery in Madrid, carved directly from polyester loaded with gypsum. Back then, I worked in a tiny home studio (3.50×2.20 m) with just one window and one light bulb on the ceiling. Throughout this series, my obsession was with modeling the light that came from these two sources and shone over my figures (one during the day, the other at night). But when I displayed these works in the 800 square meters of the gallery, I became convinced of the economic power of the figure in the configuration of a large space.
